RATIONALE:
To bring together observers and theoreticians to exchange and discuss new
ideas related to neutron star binaries or single neutron stars in a one day workshop.
This meeting is hosted once or twice per year.
|
STRUCTURE OF MEETING:
Each meeting has three sessions. The first session (11:00-13:00)
is dedicated to general news in the broad field of neutron stars and here new
research results will be presented briefly. The afternoon sessions (14:00-17:45, with a coffee break) focus
on a more specific topic, which will be different for each meeting. We aim for short
presentations in the first session, and slightly longer presentations in the afternoon
sessions. The main emphasis is on discussions.
|
TOPIC OF THIS MEETING:
The topic for the afternoon sessions is: GRAVITATIONAL WAVES AND GRAVITY TESTS
- Sources of transient / continuous gravitational waves
- Detection of gravitational waves using LIGO/VIRGO, eLISA and PTAs
- Merger rates of double neutron stars and black holes
- Testing theories of gravity using pulsars (current constraints / future prospects)
