The large-scale structure of the Universe: Job offers
Ph.D. positions in cosmology
The Argelander Institute for Astrophysics of Bonn University invites applications for a number of Ph.D. positions in theoretical astrophysics and cosmology. These positions are associated with the newly formed group "The large-scale structure of the Universe" led by Prof. Cristiano Porciani.
Available research projects span a wide spectrum of possibilities including research on the large-scale structure of the Universe, dark energy, numerical cosmology, and the physics of the intergalactic medium.
Applicants are required to have a Master's or Diploma Degree in physics, astronomy, or related fields. Materials in support of an application (including a brief Curriculum Vitae and a statement of research interests) should be submitted electronically to porciani@astro.uni-bonn.de. Please ensure that at least two letters of recommendation are sent directly to the above e-mail address. Applications will continue to be accepted until all positions have been filled.
Interested students who wish to receive further information on the Ph.D. program are welcome to contact Prof. Porciani.
The University of Bonn is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from women and minorities.
Postdoctoral Position in Theoretical Astrophysics and Cosmology
The Argelander Institute for Astrophysics (AIfA) of Bonn University invites applications for a postdoctoral position in theoretical astrophysics and cosmology to work with Prof. Cristiano Porciani. The successful candidate has a strong research background in one or more of the following topics: large-scale structure of the Universe, galaxy redshift surveys, dark energy, primordial non-Gaussianity, numerical cosmology, radiative transfer, and the intergalactic medium.
The appointment is initially for 2 years, with a possibility for further extensions. Salary is paid according to the German civil service scale TV-L E13. The appointment is expected to begin in the Fall 2010 but earlier starts are preferred.

Bonn is a pleasant city on the Rhine river. Home to the United Nations campus and other international institutions, it offers a vibrant cultural life. The AIfA hosts over 100 scientists working on many different subjects in astrophysics and is located next to the Max-Planck Institute for Radioastromy.
