I am a postdoctoral
researcher (wissenschaftlicher
Miterbeiter) at AIfA, associated to the
SPODYR research
group.
Currently,
I am at the European Space Agency (ESA) in Noordwijk, The Netherlands,
as an international Research Fellow. My current project is to utilize
the HST Legacy archive to derive structural and photometric properties
of nuclear star clusters (NSCs) in a sample of 300 galaxies spannig a range in morphological type and mass. First results
are presented
here.
Such a large and homogeneous analysis is crucial for understanding the
formation and evolution of such compact stellar systems in galactic
nuclei.
I am investigating the observational properties of compact stellar
systems
(globular star clusters, nuclear clusters of late- and early-type dwarf
and massive galaxies, ultra compact dwarf galaxies). Robust knowledge
of their obsrvational properties provides theoretical models with
empirical constrains to better understand and reconstruct galaxy
formation history.
