In order to be able to start the visualization, some technologies on which the visualization is based are required. What follows is a short overview of the requirements, some detailled information about each requirement can be found below.

Requirements for the visualization:

1. -A recent browser like Safari, Firefox or Internet Explorer
   

2. -An installed Java Runtime Environment
   

3. -Activated Java - and JavaScript functions
   

4. -Java 3D
   

If you have already fulfilled the requirements (what should be the case for recent Macs), you can directly start the visualization by clicking on „Visualization“ in the navigation bar at the top and then on „Start Navigation“. Please note that you have to accept a certifacte before the applet is allowed to start.

1. (1)Recent browser

2. (2)Java Runtime Environment (JRE)
   

A recent version of the JRE can be downloaded from http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp. Go to paragraph „Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE)“ and click on „Download“. On this page you can also find Installation Instructions for the JRE.

3. (3)Java - and JavaScript functions
   

You have to enable Java and JavaScript in order to start the visualization. Normally, you can find these setting under „Settings - Security“, but it depends on your browser. Therefore please take a look into your browsers manual.

4. (4)Java 3D
   

The recent version of Java 3D (1.5.2) can be found on the following webpage:

https://java3d.dev.java.net/binary-builds.html

On this page, several binaries and installers for the variuos operating systems can be found. The first file listed below the label „1.5.2“ is a README file, which contains every necessary information to install the Java 3D environment.

Troubleshooting:

There is a common problem on Windows computers. If you can‘t start the visualization, please check if the application path of the software contains any blank character.

(e.g. „C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Manuel Hahn\Desktop“)

If so, please remove the blank character if it is possible or just move the ViSaGE folder to a location like „C:\“.
