The conference addressed recent developments in understanding the
time evolution of galaxies in the context of today's standard
cosmological model. The central supermassive black holes in the nuclei
of these galaxies whose mass is strongly correlated with their host's
properties, are at the focus of the meeting, as well as the larger-scale
environments of the galaxies, such as galaxy groups and clusters.
Combining the phenomena from small to large scales heralds a new epoch
of extragalactic astronomy which is driven by the recent generation of
extremely powerful ground- and space-based telescopes as well as newly
developed theoretical models and the dramatically increased capacity for
astrophysical numerical simulations.
Galaxy evolution is a timely and active topic, and this conference
provided an opportunity to summarize where the field stands and
how it is developing, and to exchange ideas.

On the right, you can find a rather "interesting" article about the conference published in Berlin's biggest tabloid, the BZ.
A second (more informative) article was published in the local paper "Potsdamer Neueste Nachrichten", it is also online on the
PNN homepage. Unfortunately, both articles are available in German only.
We uploaded some pictures from the conference, mostly taken by Madleen Köppen. Thanks to Tom McCavana for additional pictures!
If you took particularly nice photos during the conference (especially during the reception or conference dinner) and feel that some of them should be shown here, please send them to us.
