Title: Nearby cosmology: Globular clusters as relics of Milky Way formation

Date: Thursday 28th May

Abstract:

The picture of building the Milky Way halo from merging protogalactic fragments is considered the local manifestation of the hierarchical galaxy formation process. In this scenario, some studies have suggested that the outer young Galactic halo globular cluster population might be associated (or even the nuclei) to tidal disrupted dwarf spheroidals, now extinct galaxies.
