Abstract:

Thanks to large scale surveys, our understanding of the Local Group dwarf galaxy system has been transformed by the discovery of numerous faint dwarf galaxies around both the Milky Way and Andromeda. I will show that comprehensive analyses from SDSS data, as well as deep photometric follow-up, reveal that these systems, although they can have total luminosities as low as only 1000 solar luminosities, remain complex in their morphologies and star formation histories.
