Abstract

I discuss several aspects of phasing up the superterp post-correlation. Besides the motivation, I emphasize the calibration of phase and delays offsets between the superterp stations (for which I have developed a simple but robust strategy) and the actual S/N improvement that can be achieved. Noise correlations between the superterp stations cause final noise values that are higher than naively expected from the number of added stations. Luckily the effect can be estimated accurately using the intra-superterp correlations (visibilities). This effekt is only significant if there is a bright source within the superterp beam that contributes significantly to the total superterp noise (or system temperature).
