Determining cosmological parameters from individual gravitational lens systems

Abstract
We introduce a new method to calculate the time delay for double or multiple
image gravitational lens systems from the potential. This method leads
to a formalism providing simple linear relations between observables and
cosmological parameters to be determined. The well known mass sheet
degeneracy and its breaking by independent measurements of the mass
scale is easily recognized and the consequences for the determination
of cosmological parameters are shown. As an example,
the proposed Ds/Dds method is applied to QSO 0957+561.
