First models for the quadruple RX J0911+0551

Abstract

New observations of the multiply imaged QSO RX J0911+0551 show that this system consists of (at least) four images. The unique image configuration puts rather strong constraints on the parameters of possible lens models. We present preliminary models for this system and show that a significant external shear (due to a nearby cluster) as well as a moderate ellipticity of the main lens galaxy are needed to explain the observations.
