Data sets

An almost complete list of long-baseline data sets can be found here.

We are planning to work on a couple of them. They have already been pre-processed to some degree (NDPPP, some with phased-up superterp, some with conversion to circular).

All data sets on cep1 have been moved from their original locations to /staging3, which is a distributed glusterfs file system that can be seen from all nodes. — Olaf Wucknitz 03-Aug-2012 13:26

L50631: 3C196 LBA long track, "all" stations

We have a combined data set with all subbands (averaged), as well as one version that combined ten subbands. Of the latter there is also a version with phased-up superterp and two that are converted to circular polarisation (with and without correction for X-Y phase offsets).

See here for more details.

A copy of the pre-processed data sets can be found on cep1 at /staging3/wucknitz/LBW1/L50631/:

L45786: Crab = TauA HBA 1.5h, "all" stations

This is a perfect test data set for first long-baseline work, because on long baselines the pulsar dominates so that we just see a relatively strong point source. It is also very interesting because of the time-variable polarisation properties.

There also is an (averaged) combined version with all subbands, and a version with 16 subbands. Of the latter also one with phased-up superterp. Test versions after conversion to circular using different scripts and offset calibration can be provided on request.

See here for more details.

L32468: 3C123 HBA long track, "all" stations

This was the first HBA observation in which all international stations delivered data. The are strong compact components in this source, but the overall structure is very complicated. This is a challenging target for imaging with all baselines. It is easier when using only Dutch or only international baselines.

There are combinations of all subbands, and in blocks of 64, with and without phased-up superterp. Conversion to circular still has to be done.

See here for more details.

L57168: B0329+54, HBA 1.5h, "all" stations

This is a very bright pulsar that should provide a nice signal even on long baselines.

See here for more details.

Note: The phase centre for this observation was 03:33:59.00000 +54.34.43.0000, but the real position of the pulsar (J2000) is 03:32:59.368 54:34:43.57. This offset introduces up to 5-8 microsec delay differences on international baselines.

Corrected versions:

L57168_posshift_ndppp_combined_SB110-125_phased-up.MS
NDPPP_posshift

This version was first shifted and then flagged. It turns out that it still has unflagged bad data in it. The reason for this is currently being investigated. At least for some of the bad points, the unshifted version had them flagged, but the new one not.
