 ays motivated astronomers to make great efforts. The history of astronomy 
 is full of wonderful\, but sometimes also quirky discoveries\, such as the
  discovery of a colossal artwork on the moon.\nThe lecture will discuss so
 me of these discovery stories.\n\nDr. Michael Geffert\, retired from the A
 rgelander-Institut and he now heads the Birtzberg Observatory – a virtua
 l observatory for the scientific analysis of historical photographic plate
 s\, interdisciplinary astronomy projects\, and educational events.
