Millimeter/Sub-Millimeter Astronomy
Mission
Focusing on observations at millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths, our group studies star formation, galaxy and galaxy cluster evolution and the dense interstellar medium in galaxies.
In particular, we focus on galaxy clusters observed through the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) effect, and the evolution of galaxies, their interstellar matter and star formation properties.
We are heavily involved in the CCAT telescope project, in the COSMOS project, and with the Cologne group of Prof. Schilke, we are the German node of the European ALMA Regional Center (ARC). With Cologne university and the MPIfR we collaborate within the DFG Collaborative Research Center SFB1601, and we are member of the research networks PUNCH4NFDI and Big Bang to Big Data (B3D).
